Has your teacher assigned a book for a class using Overdrive? Here's your guide to using Sora by Overdrive, our online library.
How We Use Overdrive (aka the Sora App)
Our catalog currently includes a few different kinds of books:
Books for classes (these will be listed in each project)
Starter catalog (these are free books that anyone can borrow!)
Logging in via Browser (Desktop/Laptop)
Select AEON Prep from the list of schools.
Click Sign in using AEON Prep:
Sign into your AEON Google account (if you aren't logged in already on your browser). Make sure to select your aeonschool.org Google account.
Accessing Books for Projects
Books that are used for your projects will typically be assigned to you automatically in our bookshelf. There may be a few books for projects where you'll ned to search for the book and borrow it yourself. When that's the case, you'll see this in your project directions.
The easiest way to find your assigned books for your classes is from your Overdrive home page. Here's what do to:
Log into Overdrive (click here to jump to to log-in guide if you need help!)
On the bottom of the page, you'll see a navigation bar that looks like this:
Click on either the Home page or your Shelf.
Once you see your assigned book, you can click Open Book to begin reading.
Viewing your assigned books is quickest from the Home page, but you can also access assigned books from the Shelf page.

On the Home page, you'll see books assigned to you appear at the top of the page:

You should then see any books assigned to you, how long you have left in your lending period, and whether the book has been downloaded to your device already:

On the Shelf page, click on the Loans tab (usually this tab opens by default):

On your Loans tab from the Shelf page, you'll see a drop-down menu in the top-left corner (right under the Loans tab link) - select Assignments from the drop-down menu to review books assigned to you:
You should then see any books assigned to you, how long you have left in your lending period, and whether the book has been downloaded to your device already:
Accessing Our Overdrive Catalog
Once you're logged into the Sora app by Overdrive, you should see a collection homepage, like this! You can access eBooks and audiobooks a few different ways on Overdrive! You're able to search for books, filter by eBook or audiobook, or access our collections.
